Is Your Business Business-Fit?
I had the privilege and honor to talk to a wonderful group of fitness professionals at the Diva Extravaganza Ladies Fitness show that was held in Durbanville High School on 29 July 2017. This is a yearly show that grows in numbers every year initiated by Kevin and Bernadine Schwartz from Bodybuilding PCSA.
Since my audience was mainly fitness professionals I established that there were a good number of business owners and entrepreneurs. My message: Since you are fitness-fit, are your business also business-fit?
Since I started out in fitness myself and being a serial entrepreneur and successful businessman I noticed that there are 10 major similarities between fitness and business that can help a person achieve their desired results. Let me share these amazing tools with you that as for me I believe that when you apply them in your business and even in your life - you will reached your goals and the success that you dream of.
Principles and Tools
#1. Fitness you have a personal trainer - in business you have a business coach
#2. Fitness you have to believe in yourself first - in business you have to believe in your service / product
#3. In both fitness and business your mindset is very important. You have to be focused all the time on your goals and on the task at hand
#4. Action: You have to take the action first - no-one is going to take it for you. In business we referred to this as your To-do-List and your Not-to-do-List
#5. Goals: What are you strategic short, medium and long-term goals?
#6. In fitness the athletes know the importance of meal preparation. In business you need to plan strategically your every move to reach your desired goals and sales targets
#7. All athletes know how expensive it is to budget every month. In business you need to know your numbers. Your expenses versus your income, sales figures and cost of lead generation to name a few
#8. Once you start out in fitness you surround yourself with like minded fitness people. In business we call it your network = your net worth. You are the sum of the 5 people you spend the most of your time with. Who do you surround yourself with?
#9. Branding: when the athletes get on stage they actually branding themselves as fitness professionals. What does your brand look like? Remember you have two brands. You have your personal brand - that is who you are and what people say about you when you are not in the room and you have your business brand. It is important to separate the two.
#10. Marketing and branding goes hand-in-hand. Branding is the engine of your business while marketing is the fuel. Without effective marketing how are people going to know about your brand? You have to become the marketing CEO of your business.
